Discover Working Memory
What is Working Memory?
We use our working memory constantly in daily life to help us perform efficiently and effectively in academic, professional, and social settings.
Working memory is responsible for keeping information in your mind, manipulating it, and using it in your thinking. In this way, working memory is necessary for staying focused on a task, blocking out distractions, and keeping you updated and aware about what’s going on around you.
Think of working memory as a table. When the table becomes overload; items begin to fall off. It is the same with working memory; when it becomes overloaded – forgetfulness begins to take over.
How do you know if you or your student has a limited working memory?
